Professor Jason Thistlethwaite, a researcher in the Faculty of Environment and director of the Climate Change Adaptation Project at the University of Waterloo, is available to comment on the snow emergency in Western New York.

Professor Thistlethwaite, who teaches in the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development at Waterloo, can also speak to this weather's effect on the economy.

“Buffalo's recent weather reveals how something as little as wind direction can shut down a Great Lakes economy," he said. "With current climate trends, communities all across Canada and the United States can easily be hit with the same devastating and extreme weather."
