The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Waterloo, in partnership with the Goethe-Institut, will host a unique competition this weekend for female students in grades 10 and 11. Teams will compete for a trip to Germany that will combine language and cultural studies with highlights of German engineering and research innovation.
Each registered team will present research projects that profile Canadian and German connected innovations or engineering initiatives. The judges are representatives from the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Arts, local technology companies such as Shopify, Square, and Desire2Learn, and Goethe-Institut.
Teams will also compete in an Arduino-based design challenge. Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software, for creating simple, interactive projects.
