Warriors Women's hockey team celebrating win

It’s been a historic season for the Waterloo Warriors women’s hockey program. This past Sunday, the Warriors advanced to the second round of the Playoffs for the first time in the program’s 15 years of existence.

With their 2-0 win over Western, the Warriors now take on the Guelph Gryphons in the Ontario University Athletics semifinals. Last night, the Warriors fell 3 to 1 to the Gryphons in the first semifinal game, but return home to the CIF Arena on Saturday at 2:30 pm for game two and need your support.

Puck drop is set for 2:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the Main Athletics Office in the Physical Activities Complex (PAC) or online.

The Warriors hope to continue their memorable season and force a game three with a victory over Guelph. They will need strong goaltending from Waterloo athlete of the week Stephanie Sluys, who stopped 99 shots in their series win over Western. Fifth year forward Marissa Redmond will also be a key player in Saturday’s game, having scored both winning goals against the Western Mustangs on home ice.

Let’s show our black and gold pride and cheer on our women’s hockey team as they look to make history!
