Request to make a University of Waterloo Arts Course a PACS-Approved Course

Application Instructions:

Students who desire to count a non-approved University of Waterloo Arts course as PACS-approved are required by the Peace and Conflict Studies Administrative Group to complete and submit this course substitution request form. Please complete all fields in the form for your request to be processed in a timely manner. 

PACS Approved Course Criteria: For a course to be considered, at minimum, it should include content that helps students: 1) understand issues of ongoing systemic harm (e.g., racism, colonialism, environmental degradation), conflict, and/or contention (potentially but not necessarily violent conflict) at one or more levels of human interaction, from interpersonal to intergroup and international; 2) become aware of collaborative, constructive and nonviolent responses to conflict, violence, and oppression; and 3) consider conditions for a just and sustainable peace that respects human rights and/or contributes to collective flourishing.
