The BASE Peer Mentor program is your chance to "pay it forward" and help support students who are new to UWaterloo and the BASE program. As you know, new students have many questions before they start the BASE. Some of these questions are about the program itself, while other questions are about Renison, UWaterloo, and life in Canada. As a Peer Mentor, you can help support new BASE students by sharing your wisdom and advice on the best ways to prepare for life as a university student.
As a BASE Peer Mentor, you will be assigned a small group of new BASE students to support. You will be available through email, as well as texting apps like WeChat and WhatsApp, to answer students' questions about preparing for BASE. If you live near Waterloo, you also have the option of meeting our students in-person at Renison events. The BASE Peer Mentor program is an eight-week commitment. Once you have completed your commitment, you will receive a letter of recognition that can be used as proof of your volunteer experience.
To register, please complete the form below. Once we receive your registration, we will contact you with instructions for completing your Peer Mentor training. The deadline to register is August 16, 2026.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email Andrew Dixon, Renison's Learning Skills Advisor, and he will be happy to help.
