Summer 2026 - JNU Learncation
The JNU Learncation Program offers an immersive, short-term international experience in one of South Korea’s most beautiful destinations. Located on Jeju Island—known for its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture—this program combines academic learning with hands-on cultural exploration.
What you’ll experience:
- Korean language classes focused on real-world communication
- Cultural activities like the Haenyeo (female diver) experience, Hanbok wearing, and traditional percussion
- Visits to natural and cultural landmarks across Jeju
- Collaborative group work and presentations with international peers

No program fee — Dormitory and program expenses covered by JNU (meals, personal expenses, and flights are not included).

Summer 2026 (Online)
This is a short-term online immersive experience that allows students to engage directly with Japanese language and culture from anywhere in the world. Through interactive sessions, cultural activities, and opportunities to communicate in Japanese, participants will gain valuable international experience while continuing to build their language skills. The program is conducted entirely in Japanese, providing an authentic environment for language learning and cultural exchange.
This non-credit program is intended for students who have completed at least JAPAN 102R
Dates
Program dates: July 6 - July 17, 2026
Online classes via Zoom: Japanese language class, and opportunities for virtual interaction with Tottori University students. Classes offered from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm (JST)
Placement test: June 16 - June 19, 2026

Summer 2026
This is a unique 4-week summer experience where you will have the opportunity to live with a Japanese family through a homestay program. Momoyama Gakuin University is located in Osaka City, which is one of Japan’s most bustling cities.
Have an authentic experience abroad while improving your Japanese language!
This non-credit program is aimed towards students who have limited knowledge of Japan, but have taken JAPAN 101/JAPAN 102.

Winter and Summer 2026
This is a unique, short, non-credit program designed to improve your Japanese proficiency and deepen your understanding of Japan.
The program consists of intensive Japanese lessons with many hands-on activities to practice Japanese. In addition, there are interactive lessons on traditional and modern Japanese culture and society. Moreover, there are collaborative learning activities with local Tohoku University students. Also, “buddies” (local students) will make you feel welcome and assist you during the program.

Winter Session 2: January 21 to February 3, 2026 (2 weeks)
Summer Session 1: June 10 to June 25, 2026 (2 weeks)
Summer Session 2: July 1 to July 28, 2026 (4 weeks)

Program features:
- Explore the Chinese culture and language through this unique two-week immersion program!
- Chinese language and culture courses through the School of International Chinese Language Education at Beijing Normal University
- Cultural exchange activities and historical sightseeing tours around the city of Beijing
- 0.5 credit UW course with 80 hours in class and activities
To qualify for this program, you must be a Canadian citizen whose native language is not Chinese and have successfully completed a minimum of CHINA 101R.

Cost of Program:
Students are responsible for their round-trip airfare, visa application fees, and required travel insurance.
Accommodations and meals, course instruction, and activity expenses (including city tours) during the two-week stay are covered by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation!
