What is ROCC?
Do you live off campus but still want to feel part of a community? The Renison Off-Campus Community (ROCC) Program connects off-campus students with a dedicated Student Experience Peer Leader who helps students build friendships, navigate university life, and become part of the Renison community.
The program is designed for off-campus students who:
- Want to meet new people.
- Want someone to ask questions.
- Are looking for smaller, more relaxed social opportunities.
- Want to get more involved at Renison.
Our Goals
By the end of the term, students should:
- Feel more connected to Renison.
- Know at least one Peer Leader they can turn to.
- Have met other off-campus students.
- Feel more confident navigating university.
- Are more comfortable participating in campus life beyond the classroom
One-on-one connection
Throughout the term, students can:
- Attend social events.
- Meet for coffee or lunch.
- Study together – connect with the Learning Skills team.
- Ask questions about campus life.
- Get connected to resources.
- Attend Renison events together.
- Get connected with RASC.
Small group activities
Throughout the term, students can participate in small group activities such as:
- Learn How to Cook on your own with Renison’s Chef Tim
- Finance events (ex. budgeting workshops)
- Coffee chats/bubble tea socials
- Grocery trips, couponing, points cards, student discount info sessions
- Farmers' Market visits
- Board game nights
- Study sessions
- Movie nights
- Attending other campus events together
