Volunteer with Renison for You @ Waterloo Day on Saturday, May 23!
You @ Waterloo Day welcomes admitted students and their families, friends, and partners to our campus. Be a part of this amazing day and impact someone's future by signing up to be a volunteer. Let's show them what being part of the Renison community is all about!
When: Saturday, May 23, 10:00am - 2:00pm
Where: Renison University College and the University of Waterloo
Why should I do this?
If it's your first time volunteering at the event, you will receive:
- Renison name tag
- Exclusive Renison t-shirt
- And if you volunteer the entire day: Complementary lunch
In addition, this is a great opportunity to include on your résumé as professional volunteer experience!
1. University College Tent Volunteers
- Be stationed outside and available to provide directions for visitors to the University Colleges during the event.
- Encouraging visitors on main campus to walk across the bridge to visit Renison, St. Jerome's University, United College, and Conrad Grebel University College.
- Engage with students and be a warm, friendly face to represent Renison.
2. Greeters, Runners, and Floaters
- Be a friendly first face for students when they arrive at Renison.
- Be available at different entrances around Renison to help visitors locate the Dunker Family Lounge for registration and campus tours.
- Offer directional support if needed to direct prospective students to sessions, etc.
- Assist with restocking booths and supplies when necessary.
3. Booth Volunteers at Renison
- Help as a volunteer to promote Social Development Studies, School of Social Work, Double Degree (Social Development Studies & School o), Culture & Language Studies (showcasing Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Studies in Islamic and Arab Cultures), Renison International Programs, and Student Experience & Housing at Renison.
- Be a volunteer who is already knowledgeable and has an association with one of these areas prior to the event.
- Answer questions related to the respective department at Renison.
- Connect students with print materials or business cards should they be interested in following up to learn more.
- Encourage visitors to go on a tour if they haven’t done so already at the College.
- Note: Volunteers should have an association with or knowledge of their booth prior to the event.
4. Booth Volunteers at Student Life Fair in Physical Activities Complex (PAC)
- Renison Booth:
- Speak to living in residence on campus, including the community and culture at Renison. Share information about living in residence.
- Answer questions about living in residence and talk about the meal plans that are available in the different residences.
- Connect students with the print materials on Residence.

BASE (Bridge to Academic Success in English) Booth
- Speak to the community and culture at Renison. Share information about BASE programming.
- Be a volunteer who is already knowledgeable and has an association with the BASE programs.
- Share experiences, offer insights, answer questions about the BASE program.
- Encourage students to visit Renison and go on a tour.
- Connect students with print materials or business cards should they be interested in a follow-up.
5. Registration Table Volunteers
- Help visitors register for Renison tours.
- Hand out event guides and Renison event materials to visitors.
- Distribute swag as a reward to visitors for registering at the event.
6. Reni Moose Mascot Volunteer and Handlers
- Serve as the Reni Moose mascot in the costume, and serve as a handler to help direct Reni Moose to various venues throughout the College.
- Engage with prospective students and show Renison spirit by taking photos with visitors.
- As a handler, support Reni Moose and ensuring they take frequent breaks throughout the day.
Will I receive training?
Yes! There will be a general volunteer training!
General Volunteer Training
This is a great opportunity to meet you fellow volunteers and to learn more about your roles, responsibilities, overall event logistics, and other important information.
Reminder: Those without a pre-existing volunteer t-shirt (white) , lanyard, or name-tag will be provided with one during training.

How do I sign up?
Complete the registration form below. The week prior to the event, you will be contacted by a Renison staff member, with more information about next steps as a volunteer.
