Research with human participants
Researchers at the University of Waterloo are expected to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct when working with human participants, ensuring their safety, welfare, and rights are protected throughout the research process. All human participant research must comply with the Tri‑Council Policy Statement (TCPS 2 2022), its official interpretations, and Waterloo’s own statement on human research, ethics guidelines, policies, and resources, which support researchers in understanding their responsibilities and navigating the ethics review process. This reflects the University’s commitment to fostering responsible, well designed research that promotes public trust while advancing meaningful knowledge.
