Dr Vanessa Iafolla gave testimony before the House of Commons Finance committee, in support of the legislative review of Canada's anti-money laundering and counterterrorist financing legislation. Dr. Iafolla spoke about improved guidance to reporting entities (like banks), problems with the use of discretion in reporting (like poor quality intelligence, and bias in reporting private transactions), and the need to improve transparency of corporate owners (who use things like real estate to hide their identities and launder money through Canada).
