Graduate Programs

The Department of Sociology and Legal Studies offers three different graduate programs: 

  1. A Master of Arts (MA) in Social and Legal Studies 
  2. A Master of Arts (MA) in Sociology * 
  3. A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Sociology 

* The Master of Arts in Sociology program has two different plans that students may apply for. The Master's Research Paper plan and the Thesis plan.


This 1-year coursework program allows students to take 8 graduate courses that cover both sociological theory and the sociological implications of the law.

This MA program covers topics such as sociological theory and social research with electives ranging from urban security governance to the sociology of health.

Our PhD program combines rich sociological theory with practical applications in our key research areas and prepares students for careers inside and outside of academia.
