U.W.P.S. Crime Report– Week of Oct. 28 to Nov. 3, 2014

                                          

False Fire Alarm:

At 3:48 a.m. on Oct. 28th U.W.P.S. officers and Waterloo Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Wellesley Court North. A search of the building revealed there was no fire and the alarm was caused by someone activating the pull station alarm across form room 129.

U.W.P.S. Crime Report– Week of Oct. 14 to 20, 2014

Arrest for Bike Parts Thefts:

At 7:40 a.m. on Oct. 15th a U.W.P.S. officer observed two males acting suspiciously at a bike rack located between the QNC and MC buildings.  Subsequent investigation revealed evidence that these males had been stealing parts from bicycles at the rack. Both were found to be in possession of various bike parts including lights and fenders along with a set of bolt cutters.

Both males were arrested and transported to W.R.P.S. North Division.

U.W.P.S. Crime Report– Week of Oct. 7 to 13, 2014

Trespassing:

At 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 11th a UWPS officer observed an older male sitting at a computer in the DC library. The male, with no affiliation to UW, had been previously trespassed from campus. He was arrested, charged with Trespassing and escorted off campus.

This male is described as 38 years old, 6’ tall, 180 lbs., long brown hair and long brown beard, scruffy appearance.

U.W.P.S. Crime Report– Week of Sept. 30 to Oct. 6, 2014

Assault:

On Wednesday October 1st at 11:40 p.m. UWPS officers were called to the Bombshelter for a report of an unruly customer.

Investigation revealed a male student at the bar had been involved in prohibited activities and had been directed to leave by security staff. The student refused to comply and challenged the staff that they would have to throw him out. In the process of removing him it is alleged the student assaulted three members of the security staff.

Weekly Crime Report, Sept. 8 to 15, 2014

Break and Enters:

U.W.P.S. are investigating 4 break and enters that took place to rooms within the Math Building between 6:00 and 7:15 p.m. on September 7th. It is believed a male suspect entered the building via the front doors and began searching for items to steal. Photos of a suspect entering and leaving the building have been captured. Four offices were entered on the 3rd floor and the following items were stolen:

o   2 Apple IMAC desktop computers along with accompanying keyboards, mouse’s and power cords

Weekly Crime Report, Sept. 16 to 22, 2014

Break and Enter:

U.W.P.S. are investigating a break and enter to the Columbia Lake Plant –Ops greenhouse. Between the evening of Friday, Sept 19 and 6:00 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 22 unknown suspect(s) broke into the greenhouse by forcing open a door. Once inside the place was ransacked and the windows were blacked out with spray paint. Several copper water pipes were cut out and removed. Other items taken:  

o   A wooden toolkit

o   Metal toolbox with assorted tools

o   Samsung Flip phone

o   2 Motorola 2-way radios

U.W.P.S. Crime Report– Weeks of April 29 to May 12, 2014

Graffiti:

Over the past several months UWPS officers have taken numerous reports of graffiti being found on various campus buildings. There were 5 more incidents reported since April 29th:

o   May 7th- on wall of ground shed at PAS. The word “Leyez” written in black marker. This is the third incident of this word being found since April 14th

U.W.P.S. Crime Report– Week of April 22 to 28, 2014

Break and Enter:

  • Eby Hall, Room 810C –  Sometime between April 20 and April 22

o   Unknown person(s) entered locked room while resident was away and took several household items including a toaster oven, set of kitchen knives, plates, other cutlery, towels and a bottle of liquor.

Thefts:

o   CIF Gymnasium – April 23 at approximately 8:00 p.m., taken - Black Nike Air Max basketball shoes

Graffiti (2 incidents):

U.W.P.S. Crime Report– Week of April 14 to 21, 2014

Fraud:

The University of Waterloo Police Service is investigating two incidents of fraud that are believed to be the work of the same suspect.

On March 19th, outside the SLC, a male student was approached by an older female asking for money to help pay her rent. The male did provide some cash and once he did the female asked for additional money for other expenses.
