Global aviation learning through the University of Waterloo and ICAO
Fundamentals of International Aviation (FoIA) is a globally accessible e-learning programme delivered through the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in partnership with the University of Waterloo’s Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Aeronautics (WISA).
Building on a collaboration that began in 2017, FoIA is now available through a stackable micro-credential pathway designed to help learners build foundational knowledge of the international air transport system through affordable, flexible online learning that can be completed at their own pace.

About the Programme
FoIA is built on a long-standing partnership between the University of Waterloo and ICAO, combining academic expertise in aviation education with international quality assurance and global reach.
The programme includes 10 stackable micro-credentials covering key areas of international aviation:
Air Law, Aircraft, Airlines, General Aviation, Navigation, Airports, Security, Environment, Accidents, and Safety.
