SDSN Canada Member Challenge

With the COVID-19 pandemic causing historic disruptions to the world’s economic and social systems, we look to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for guidance on how to "build back better". With this in mind, SDSN Canada is issuing a challenge to its network members to accelerate progress on the SDGs in Canada. We encourage all members to take on one or more of the listed challenges or adopt their own initiative to best suit their context.

Together|Ensemble, Canada’s national conference devoted to tracking progress on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has moved online and takes place from May 20-22, 2020. The conference benchmarks national progress toward achieving the agenda, mobilizes knowledge from the private sector, academia, government, and civil society, and promotes collaboration in service of the UN’s ambitiou Decade of Action. The conference is available in French and English and is free but requires advance registration on Together Ensemble

The 2020 University Impact Rankings

The start of 2020 marked the beginning of a decade of action to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Ironically, it also marked the beginning of a global crisis that would transform the methods, magnitude and speed of action to achieve them. Among many others, universities have already taken their place at the frontline of this transformation. Across the world, universities have been an all-of-society melting pot for research, innovation, advisory, and development. This gives them the ability to lead massive change for the SDGs and support other entities in society to do the same. To recognize and measure the impact of universities on advancing the SDGs, The Times Higher Education created the Global University Impact Rankings that capture progress made by universities to date and identify opportunities for future action.
