The Indigenous Speakers Series presented award-winning graphic novelist and writer David A. Robertson on Wednesday, March 13. He spoke about how he uses his work to educate and entertain, and how reconcilation begins with conversations, with asking questions, listening and learning. “We need to do better. I'm using the word 'we' here because we are in this together. Reconciliation is an all hands on deck thing."

The current issue of Decolonization: Indigeneity, Education and Society is out now! It is a special issue edited by Cutcha Risling Baldy and Malanie K. Yazzie focusing on Indigenous Peoples and the politics of water.

Decolonization: Indigeneity, Education and Society solicits any work purposefully engaged in the decolonization process, regardless of discipline or field, encouraging work that actively seeks undisciplinary connections that work both against and beyond the Western academy.

The Blanket Exercise

The Blanket Exercise includes points of reference about the historical and contemporary relationship between Indigenous populations and the imposed colonial systems in Canada.  This activity takes us through a historical timeline of events that have social, political, economic and racial identity implications on Indigenous populations.

The 5th Annual Bridging Communities through Song concert with Mino Ode Kwewak N'gamowak and Waterloo Regional Police Male Chorus will take place Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 7 pm at St. Jacobs Country Playhouse, Waterloo. This event represents a singing partnership working towards reconciliation. There is a also a special guest: Singer and Songwriter Glenn Marais.
