Indigenous Student Services

Welcome to Indigenous Student Services! We have officially integrated Indigenous Student Services (ISS) into the Office of Indigenous Relations. Though we anticipate the new Indigenous Student Centre to be renovated in Needles Hall, until then we have plenty of programming and supports for you right now.
 
In the meantime, please visit OIR at EC5 4201 for Indigenous students to access staff for support, and have a place to study or connect.

This list includes all programming or events specifically for Indigenous students, either developed in partnership with our office or shared with our office to promote. 

Recurring Weekly and Bi-weekly Events

Visiting Aunties Program | Wednesdays, 11:00am – 3:00pm | STC 1013

Facilitator: Eileen Antone (September 9th, 16th and 23rd), Diane Kilby (September 30th, October 7th, and 21st), Minnie Akparook (October 28th, November 4th, and 11th) and Rhea Green (November 18th, 25th, and December 2nd).

Student Drum Circle | Bi-weekly on Tuesdays from September 8^th until December 8^th, 5:30–6:30 p.m (October 6th excluded)  | Location STC 1013

October Events

Pumpkin Carving and Design – Come as you are or with a friend and carve a pumpkin to celebrate! Get your creative juices (and guts) flowing as you create a spooktacular creation. We will also roast the seeds as a fun treat. The winning design will receive a fun prize at soup lunch the following day!

Live-Stream Metis Dot Painting Pumpkins

• October 30th, 2:00pm – 4:00pm | STC 1013

Get creative this fall with a virtual Pumpkin Dot Art Workshop on October 30 at 2:00 p.m.  Participants will learn about contemporary dot art and create their own seasonal pumpkin design during this hands-on session.

November Events

Beaded Poppy Kits (and beading help) | Week of November 3rd to 6th 

Come to STC 1013 for a beaded poppy kit anytime this week. Staff available to help start or finish beading on November 3rd 10-4 or November 6th 1:30-4.

December Events

End of Term Feast | December 9th | 5:00 - 8:00 PM
