Introduction for Annual Momentum Report

Introduction

The Office of Indigenous Relations (OIR) at the University of Waterloo is a central hub for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students, faculty, and staff, along with allies within the University community. OIR works collaboratively on and off campus to advance the goals of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) Calls to Action, creating a long-term vision for the University, grounded in decolonization. The Office of Indigenous Relations had an extremely successful start and has built strong relationships across campuses. In the spirit of collaboration, OIR continues to advance transformational change in university structures and community.

This annual momentum report provides a snapshot of both the milestones achieved in the past year as well as a glimpse of growth areas and opportunities ahead. The report is broken down into the five goals of our five-year Indigenous Strategic Plan: Reconciliation, Research, Services and Supports, Lands and Waters and Building Community.
