Guidelines

  • A post project review (sometimes referred to as a post-mortem, project closure or lessons learned) should be completed and documented
  • Lessons learned should be documented – these should include both positive and negative items
  • For larger projects, a lessons learned review may be scheduled at the end of each phase so that items aren’t missed by the end of the project
  • Every lesson learned should include impact and recommendation for future projects
  • Items for discussion: project management and scheduling evaluation, resourcing evaluation, testing evaluation, communications evaluation, team/organization evaluation and cutover evaluation
  • This review can and should be used for future projects
