Work Breakdown Structure

A Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) outlines the work that must be accomplished in the project, decomposes the work into smaller pieces of work and becomes the skeleton of the schedule. It must include activity name, activity number and individual accountable.
Steps:

  1. Define the major deliverables and milestones
  2. Decompose the major deliverables to a level of detail appropriate to define discrete units of work
  3. Continue to decompose until appropriate detail is captured
  4. Review and refine until stakeholders agree
