There is more and more interest in Canada in the use of geothermal energy and in the potential for seasonal storage of low-grade heat. Heat pump technology, borehole heat exchangers for heat transfer to the subsurface (storage and recovery), deep drilling methods, and many other developments are of common interest as we seek to develop ways to use and even replenish earth heat for our communities and to support research/defense/mining stations in isolated regions in our cold climate. Costs and benefits are being studied by various groups, in addition to technical issues.
Agenda
Persons in the Canadian Geothermal Community attended the Canadian Virtual Geothermal Meeting.
The meeting covered one-minute introductions, some discussion items, and a final summary of issues that needed addressing, based on a short questionnaire.
