Abstract:
With mounting environmental pressures associated with contemporary unsustainable growth trajectories and the negative economic, social, and environmental impacts that ensue, it has become painfully clear that a change is necessary. To attain a sustainable future for both ourselves and the next generation, employing an alternative way of thinking is urgent, from both the corporate level and the collective citizenry alike.
Mike Gerbis will critically engage the audience with the issue of climate change through various lenses, speaking to the causes, symptoms, and controversy surrounding the climate crisis, while taking a practical and solutions oriented approach, drawing from his 22 years of experience in the environmental sector.

Presented by Michael Gerbis - CEO, The Delphi Group.
Michael Gerbis has over 20 years of experience in environmental management. He is currently the CEO of The Delphi Group and is responsible for overseeing the growth and strategic direction of the company. The Delphi Group is a Canadian strategic consultancy that has been helping companies develop and effectively deploy environmentally responsible business practices that enhance long-term profitability and performance. Michael also provides strategic advice and insight to clients and project teams across Delphi's key services areas - GHG management, corporate sustainability, market intelligence and policy and program design.
Michael’s career has revolved around his passion - the environment industry, since its inception. He is the founder of the Emerging Leaders Forum (www.leadingchange2012.ca), and founding President of The Climate Project – Canada (now The Climate Reality Canada www.climatereality.ca/), a not-for-profit group devoted to raising awareness in Canada about climate change. Michael is also on the Advisory Committee for Alguonquin College's Green Business management Program and a former Board member of the Ottawa Chapter of Young Environmental Professionals (www.yep.ca).
Michael has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Eng. from Queens University and a Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering from McMaster University. He is actively involved in the community educating youth through SHAD Valley International (www.shad.ca) and gives regular presentations to university and high school students around the country on issues such as climate change, clean energy and sustainable development.
