Title:
The Future of Canadian Energy and Climate Policy in a World of Disruption
Abstract:
While confronted with growing direct evidence of the impacts of a changing climate, geopolitical events have thrown Canada's trade, environmental, and security relationships into states of disruption and uncertainty. At the same time, the emergence of populist governments hostile to climate action have introduced new challenges to transitioning of energy systems in the direction of sustainability. Ongoing technological revolutions around renewable energy, energy storage and AI, are providing additional opportunities and challenges. Dr. Winfield will discuss the potential future directions of Canadian energy and climate policy in this environment of rapid change.
