Rotor - Nacelle Interaction

This project is part of the NSERC WESNet (Wind Energy Strategic Network wesnet.ca). In our large scale turbine test facility we are measuring the wind in several locations around the test turbine. We want to determine the effect of locating an anemometer on the nacelle of a wind turbine (downwind of the blade rotor) in comparison to an anemometer located in the undisturbed free stream of the wind. Nacelle mounted anemometers are commonly used for control of a wind turbine and it is critical to understand the variations, if any, from the true wind conditions. The project is sponsored by the NSERC Wind Energy Strategic Network.
