Working session 1, SAP x Technovation

This working session was a step towards building successful apps!

On Saturday, February 22nd, 2025, Technovation Waterloo held its first in-person Working Session at SAP. This event gave participants the chance to create paper prototypes of their apps and gain important insights into the app development process. The session ran from 10 AM to 3 PM and focused on helping teams design and test their ideas before starting to code.

The morning started with a presentation from Sandra Loop, a UX designer at SAP. Sandra explained why prototyping and getting user feedback are crucial steps in developing an app. After the talk, participants worked with their teams to design the screens of their apps on printed, paper phone templates. They then arranged the paper screens on a large sheet of paper and drew lines to show how the app’s navigation would work.

In the afternoon, participants heard from a panel of three women working at SAP. They talked about their careers, their roles at SAP, and shared helpful advice for anyone interested in a tech career. The panel was followed by a tour of the SAP office, giving participants a look at what it’s like to work at a big tech company.

The last part of the day focused on feedback. Teams swapped their paper prototypes with other teams, tested each other’s designs, and gave feedback. This was a great way to make improvements before moving on to coding.

Overall, the Working Session was a great success. By the end of the day, participants had a much clearer idea of how their app would look and work, which will make the coding process much easier. With the feedback they received, they are now ready to start building their apps with confidence!

A big thank you to SAP for hosting this event! It would not have been possible without all your help!
