Career advising

career advisingAlumni Relations, in partnership with the Centre for Career Action, provides career advising services for Waterloo alumni. As an alumnus you are entitled to:

  • up to three free confidential, individual appointments (non-transferrable)
  • discounted rates if you would like more than three appointments ($40/appointment, discounted from $85+/hour)
  • subsidized career assessments  (approximately $23 per assessment compared to $150+)

Our alumni career advisors are available for individual appointments in person and by telephone. Some evening appointments are available. They can help you:

  • determine your career direction or plan a career change
  • assess your personality and interests
  • improve your résumé, cover letter and interview skills
  • develop work search strategies including social media
  • identify your personal brand

Online Job Search

Did you know that, as an alumnus, you also have access to Alumni WaterlooWorks?  You can search WaterlooWorks for jobs posted specifically for Waterloo alumni! This is a free service, but to make use of this tool you must be an alumni e-community member.

Career Hub

The Centre for Career Action has created a Career Hub to guide you through the career development process. After completing an online module (e.g., interview skills), as an alumnus you may request individualized assistance on that topic either in-person, by phone, or by Skype (e.g., mock interview). Visit the Centre for Career Action website today to browse and register for appointments, workshops, and event offerings of interest to you.

The Centre for Career Action main site will also refer you to additional information on these topics via links to other websites and print resources.
