Larry Galajda has been described as a quintessential alumnus for his service to the University of Waterloo. Galajda (BASc '76) has remained connected to the Faculty of Engineering by helping to organize reunion dinners, anniversary celebrations and Iron Ring ceremonies for graduating engineers. In 2000, as one of the seven wardens of camp 15 responsible for the Iron Ring Ceremony, he was instrumental in the establishment of the Iron Ring Endowment Fund, which annually supports engineering education.

As a vice-president of Stantec Consulting Ltd. in Kitchener, he led the establishment of the University Waterloo Alumni@Stantec Endowment Fund for graduate-level scholarships at the company and has been a generous donor of the fund.

While Galajda has been generous with his money, he has also shared his expertise as a teacher of architecture students at Waterloo since 1996. His passion for business is shared with Grade 8 students enrolled in Junior Achievement's project business program. Galajda has enhanced the engineering profession with his long involvement with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO). In 1995, he was admitted to the PEO's Order of Honour as an officer.

Galajda is involved in every level within the Faculty of Engineering and is known among his colleagues for his willingness to contribute his time, leadership skills and expertise.
