Written by Dan Ackmerman, Communications & Student Engagement Coordinator
Being the communications coordinator for the department of athletics obviously puts a soft spot in my heart for our UWaterloo athletic teams. But more than that, I am a proud alumnus of UWaterloo and I always feel a sense of a pride whenever one of our athletes and teams achieves great things.
I used to love attending athletic events as a student, cheering on friends at games, and nothing has changed now that I am an alumnus. When I attend events and see the support of our proud alumni in the stands, I can’t help but feel a sense of community and support we give to our athletes.
The excitement of a live event is second to none and to be able to do it while cheering on your alma mater is an opportunity you should not miss out on. The black and gold is more prominent than ever at the University of Waterloo and school spirit is alive and well. The Big Ticket offers you the chance to rekindle old memories and begin new ones with students, faculty and staff.
Many of the Warriors teams are competing with the top programs across the country including the men’s hockey team who made a trip to the National Championship last season after a magical playoff run. The Big Ticket allows you to become part of their journey to reach national supremacy. It also allows you to feel a part of the team and best of all gives you a sense of pride and enjoyment.
