I’m Dr. Melina Roberts, I’m a Naturopathic Doctor, author of Building a Healthy Child and founder of Advanced Naturopathic Medical Centre in Calgary.
I graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honors Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology Co-op where I was also a varsity athlete, a member of the Varsity Women’s Rugby team, then attended the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto.
I was drawn to Kinesiology because I had a keen interest in how the body works and my university education really helped to build on that interest. My time at the University of Waterloo, really gave me a solid scientific basis, it helped me to be a great researcher of information and a critical thinker. I strongly believe that education is extremely important for progress in this world and innovation. But we also need to deeply respect and honor those that have researched science and laid the foundation of understanding for us as this helps to propel us forward.
This is what I do in my practice and why I think I’ve been able to be so successful at what I do. I integrate modern science, I bring in innovative technology in testing and therapies to better understand the functional aspect of health and underlying concepts, and blend that with proven traditional medicine that has been around for thousands of years, held the test of time and been used successfully. We can take what's been done and build on it.
I wrote a book entitled Building a Healthy Child. It teaches parents how to introduce foods in a way that decreases digestive disturbances, prevents common childhood ailments like allergies, eczema, and asthma and builds a solid foundation for long-term health.
I believe that if we can improve the health of our pediatric population we can improve the health of the future generation. Watch the video below to discover SIX Ways to Improve our Children’s Health.
