Alumni recieve RBC Momentum Award

Julie Cole, Julie Ellis, Cynthia Esp (all BA '95) and Tricia Mumby, co-founders of Mabel's Labels, received the coveted RBC Momentum Award for their outstanding entrepreneurship at the 2009 RBC Canadian Woman Entrepreneur Awards Gala.

John McVey named president of Bantrel Co.

John McVey (BASc '81; MASc '95) has been named president of Bantrel Co., Canada's leading provider of industrial engineering, procurement and construction services.

Kanata-based software company Benbria, founded by Alicia Liu (BASc '07), Ronald Richardson (BSE '07) and Mason Du (BSE '07), has won its first international customers; the company now has clients in India and Australia, Canada and the US.

Brenda Reitsma (BA '84) has received the Premier's Council Award of Excellence in Education. The award, presented by the Alberta government, recognizes Brenda's significant contribution to the development of barrier-free, inclusive programs, classrooms and facilities.

Polar Mobile creates app

Kunal Gupta (BSE '08), whose company, Polar Mobile, created an app that allows users to read publications on a BlackBerry or iPhone, discusses the future of smartphones.
