Before you start a research project, you need to have comprehensive knowledge of what has been done before, so you can define our knowledge gaps. Enter the systematic review. There are many types of systematic reviews, including rapid reviews, systematic reviews with meta-analyses, Cochrane reviews, scoping reviews, overviews of reviews and others. What is the difference? How do I do one? Why should I do one? We will discuss the whys and hows of systematic reviews, with examples from our lab on how they have been used to inform new studies, funded CIHR grants, and national physical activity guidelines.
