Alfred Yu receives Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Early Research Award

Alfred Yu has been awarded $493K from Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) for his Project Grant entitled "VAST-MAP: Vascular Stiffness Mapping for Aging Analysis Using High Frame Rate Ultrasound."

CIHR's Project Grant program is designed to capture ideas with the greatest potential to advance health-related fundamental or applied knowledge, health research, health care, health systems, and/or health outcomes. The program is highly competitive with a success rate of only 16 percent.  [ECE News]

Dr. Yu is also one of seven Engineering recipients to receive an Early Research Award of $140,000 over five years plus an additional $50,000 from the University for his Project Grant entitled "US-WASRI: Ultrasound wall shear rate imaging for high-frame-rate vascular diagnostics." [Waterloo Research]
