Dr. Elizabeth Meiering accepts the position as Associate Director for the Centre for Bioengineering and Biotechnology

Dr. Elizabeth Meiering accepts the position as Associate Director for the Centre for Bioengineering and Biotechnology.

She will be taking over Dr. Trevor Charles' position as he moves on to lead the new Waterloo Centre for Microbial Research (WCMR). 

Liz Meiering has served on the CBB Board of Directors the past 2 years, is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Waterloo (33 graduate students, 6 PDF, 8 Technicians, 41 4th yr project students, 36 coop/summer students, 50 pubs including in PNAS, Elife, COSB; 2 book chapters), and is an expert in protein folding, misfolding and design.

Liz’s work has been recognized by the Jane Coffin Childs Fellowship, John Charles Polanyi Award and a University Research Chair, and by three Outstanding Performance Awards for her contributions in teaching and scholarship. Her professional activities have included serving on the Editorial Board for Protein Engineering Design and Selection, the ALS Society of Canada Scientific Advisory Board, CIHR Operating Grant Review Committee, NIH Program Grant Review Panel, and a wide range of other external and internal committees and roles, including organization of Proteins Gordon Research Conference and EQUALS Conference, as well as Associate Dean of Graduate Studies.

Liz will be retire her role on the CBB Board of Directors in order to facilitate her new duties and efforts in her position as Associate Director for a three (3) year period starting September 2017.
