Pascal Poupart talks hockey, AI, and wearable sensors to detect physical and mental health

Friday, March 10, 2017

Pascal Poupart is leading a team that is developing interactive artificial intelligence that improves hockey and physical and mental health. In collaboration with HockeyTech, a local company that analyzes data from hockey games, the AI system can help talent scouts determine which players to recruit and help coaches to better understand what makes one player superior to another.

Poupart also aims to use AI to inspire a change in behaviour for wearable devices like fitness and smart watches, and would like to use the technology to detect stress levels based on physiological measures such as heart rate and skin sweatiness that are inferred from a wearable sensor.
