Researchers at the University of Waterloo have partnered with an artificial intelligence (AI) startup on a project that aims to use AI to improve COVID-19 screening.

The Waterloo research team publicly released AI software that can better detect infections from chest x-rays and is looking to enlist expertise from around the world to aid in the project.

Inaugural conference reflects on 100 years of heath care, looks to its future

Leaders in community health care, technology, research and entrepreneurship will gather next week to discuss the ways these areas intersect in medicine now and should in the future, while celebrating a milestone anniversary for one health-care facility in the region.

Zoya Leonenko chair of the conference organizing committee, the Faculty of Science, Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) and the Centre for Bioengineering and Biotechnology (CBB) planned the three-day conference June 17-19 that brought industry and researchers together for the first Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society of Canada.

Research2Reality is a new social media and television campaign by six of Canada’s top research institutions including the University of Waterloo that aims to bring high-impact university research to millions of Canadians.

CBB and some of its members will be featured in the upcoming Canadian Healthcare Technology Magazine scheduled to be released mid-September.
