CTE2248 Game-Based Learning

About this course

Gamification focuses on the application of game mechanics and gameful thinking in non-game contexts, to engage users in solving problems or carrying out tasks. This interactive workshop will explore the theoretical and psychological relationship between games and learning, the elements of gameful design, and a variety of gamification methods that can be used in a university classroom. Participants will learn strategies to incorporate gamification into a variety of learning environments and will have the opportunity to design game-based learning events that can be used in their tutorial/guest lecture. Individuals from all disciplines are encouraged to attend in order to identify and learn from a diverse set of discipline-specific strategies, methods, strengths, and weaknesses.
