Canada
Post
Task
Force
The federal government has ordered a full review of Canada Post. This is not an unusual action; Canada Post’s mandate is supposed to be reviewed every 5 years and the last one was in 2008. The following is a summary of the review process:
- A task force of 4 appointees is researching Canada Post and meeting with stakeholders to understand the industry and Canada Post’s place within it. Their report is due at the end of the summer.
- Once the report is received, a Parliamentary Committee will begin consultation with the public and stakeholders to discuss the task force’s recommendations. A final report will be submitted to the federal government in December.
- The government will review the final report and decide on appropriate action in the spring of 2017.
