Gary Bruce, Germanist historian, chair of the History department at the University of Waterloo, and an active member of the Waterloo Centre for German Studies (WCGS), organized a small conference on the history of the German Democratic Republic entitled "Herrschaft und Macht in der DDR". The conference took place in the Balsillie School of International Affairs (67 Erb Street West, Waterloo; Room: Boardroom 123) on Sunday 26 May and Monday 27 May. The WCGS was one of the major financial supporters of this conference.
