Applications for Foreign Language Assistants in Germany

2019-2020 Applications for Foreign Language Assistants now being accepted by the the German Pedagogical Exchange Office (PAD) and the Canadian Association of University Teachers of German.

            The assistants spend 9 months at a school (starting in September) in Germany, working 12 hours per week as resource persons under the direction of teachers of English. They are expected to help with conversation and oral practice of English and should also be able to provide information about everyday life and culture in Canada.

Eligibility

  • Students majoring in German or any other subject who will have completed a first degree (BA) upon assuming the position.
  • Must be native speakers of English and a long-time resident of Canada.
  • Must have very good knowledge of German.
  • Should be less than 30 years of age.

There is a minimum cost-of-living stipend of 800, - Euro per month, which includes insurance and is tax-exempt.
