Demystifying ergonomics in the modern office

Thursday, October 26, 2017 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Sun Life Financial Auditorium (Room 1621)
Lyle S. Hallman Institute (LHI)
University of Waterloo

The field of ergonomics in regards to the modern office has progressed considerably over the past 30 years with the adoption of mobile computing technology and the increasing concern for sedentary behavior. While the office has an increasing amount of environmental variability and workstation dimensions, the fundamental needs of workstation layout still apply and need to be at the core of any ergonomics program for the modern office.

CRE-MSD and the Hallman Lecture Series are pleased to present this free public lecture by Dr. Jack Dennerlein, professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Science at Northeastern University.

Jack's research aims to prevent work-related injuries and musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) through multiple research approaches that examine how the design of the environment, both built and organizational, affects worker health outcomes. This research is based on a systems approach articulated through the goal of modern ergonomics, which is to optimize system performance and human well-being. His research study designs are both observational/descriptive and experimental.
