Dr. Joan Stevenson is a professor in occupational biomechanics within the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies with a cross-appointment to the School of Rehabilitation Therapy at Queen's University.
She is also the current chair of the General Research Ethics Board and Coordinator of the Ergonomics Research Group. Dr. Stevenson has worked with research teams on low back pain in industry, effect of various lifting strategies, and biomechanical assessment for load carriage systems.
Her latest research initiatives are in development of on-body ergonomic assistive devices, assessment of cumulative loading in industrial jobs, and design of specialize backpacks for professional movers.
