Dr. Shawn Beaudette is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Brock University (2019-present). He received his PhD (2018) and MSc (2014) in Biomechanics and BSc in Human Kinetics (2012) from the University of Guelph. After graduating from Guelph, he worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Machine Learning and Data Science at the University of Ottawa (2018-2019). Shawn’s research program integrates aspects of biomechanics, neurophysiology, and data science to understand how spine movement is controlled with a focus on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of low back disorders. Shawn’s research is aimed at objectively quantifying neuromuscular and motor function to inform user-centered feedback as well as the clinical and industrial decision-making processes. His research is supported by research-industry partnership grants in addition to government sponsored operating and infrastructure awards.
