Dr. Stacey Acker is an assistant professor in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo. She received a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University.

Dr. Acker’s research focuses on lower limb biomechanics and exposures on the knee joint, in particular, during high flexion activities of daily living. Work tasks that require deep knee bending expose the knee joint to unique loading conditions and put the worker at a higher risk of developing lower limb musculoskeletal disorders and injuries. Dr. Acker’s research program uses an innovative combination of non-invasive measurement and advanced biomechanical modeling to characterize joint exposures, investigate the links between exposure and musculoskeletal disorders, and provide strategies or interventions to prevent joint damage and injury.
