Dear Waterloo Chemistry Alumni,

John Corrigan

We’re thrilled to bring back our newsletter ‘Chemistry Matters’ as your link to the latest news, achievements, and opportunities in Waterloo Chemistry. It’s been an exciting year for our department with the addition of new synthetic research laboratories, a groundbreaking for the Waterloo Free Electron Laser ‘WaterFEL’ project, and so much more.

We’d like to share a few highlights with you as we enter a new period of innovation and collaboration in the department. We’ve welcomed new faculty members whose expertise has strengthened our commitment to cutting-edge research and experiential learning. Our students continue to impress—earning national recognition, publishing impactful work, and contributing to projects that address real-world challenges.

Looking ahead, we are expanding interdisciplinary programs and deepening partnerships with industry and global institutions. These initiatives will create even more opportunities for our students and amplify Waterloo Chemistry’s reputation as a leader in research and innovation.

Your engagement as alumni is invaluable to our continued success. Whether through co-op opportunities for our students, attending alumni events, donations, or simply sharing stories of your careers or entrepreneurial journeys, you help shape the future of the department. I encourage you to update your contact information, join us at upcoming events organized by the Science Advancement Team, and share your stories—we would love to feature them in future newsletters.

Thank you for being an integral part of the Waterloo community. Your connection keeps Waterloo Chemistry strong. Together, we’ll continue shaping the future of science.
