Abstract: Algebraic graph theory is the mingling of graph theory with
algebra. One way that this happens is through the study of groups
acting on graphs. An automorphism of a graph is a permutation of the
vertices such that edges are mapped to edges and the set of all such
permutations forms a group known as the automorphism of the graph. In
this learning seminar, we will look at automorphism groups of graph
and the representing groups using graphs. No previous knowledge of
group actions will be assumed.
