Debbie Leung appointed University Research Chair

Tuesday, April 14, 2015

Professor Debbie Leung has been appointed a University Research Chair.

Debbie LeungDebbie is a world-renowned researcher in quantum information science. Her explorations of Hilbert space have driven many key developments including approximate quantum error correction, one-bit teleportation, quantum data hiding, locking, composable security proofs for quantum cryptography, and a deeper understanding of quantum communication. Further afield, some of these counterintuitive discoveries have had far-reaching implications for many-body physics, the black-hole information paradox, and satellite communications.

Debbie is a professor in the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization, and also a member of the Institute for Quantum Computing. She has held a Canada Research Chair from 2005 to 2015. Her University Research Chair appointment will be held from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2022.
