Levent Tuncel
Professor Levent Tuncel has been awarded a five-year Faculty of Mathematics Research Chair. The award recognizes Levent's exceptional scholarly achievements and pre-eminence in the field of optimization. Levent will receive a $250,000 research grant, and a teaching reduction of one course per year.

Professor Tuncel's research is in mathematical optimization, more specifically in convex optimization, interior-point

methods, and discrete optimization. He is a co-author (with Bertrand Guenin and Jochen Koenemann) of A Gentle Introduction to Optimization, and author of Polyhedral and Semidefinite Programming Methods in Combinatorial Optimization. Professor Tuncel is Co-Editor of the journal Mathematical Programming A, and Associate Editor of Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications and SIAM Journal on Optimization. In 2014, he received a University of Waterloo Distinguished Teacher Award.
