Frank Sottile begins an adjunct professorship

On May 1 2014, Frank Sottile began a four-year term as Adjunct Professor in the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization (C&O). Frank is a professor in the Department of Mathematics at Texas A&M University. His research interests are in algebraic combinatorics, real and computational algebraic geometry, Hopf algebras, discrete and computational geometry, and tropical geometry. In 2012 he was elected a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society.

The C&O department has a program of external adjunct professors, wherein distinguished scientists who work in one of the main research areas of the department are appointed to terms ranging from three to five years. Adjunct Professors make several visits to the department during their terms. As of May 1, 2014, the department's adjuncts professors are Friedich Eisenbrand (EPFL), Daniel Gottesman (Perimeter Institute), Yurii Nesterov (UCL), Frank Sottile (Texas A&M), and Yinyu Ye (Stanford).
