On the 20th anniversary of Shor's algorithms for breaking factoring and discrete log based cryptosystems, there is a new landscape of quantum tools and intensifying efforts worldwide to build large-scale quantum computers. The aim of the PQCrypto conferences is to serve as a forum for researchers to present results and exchange ideas on the topic of cryptography in an era with large-scale quantum computers.
125 cryptographers from around the world met at the University of Waterloo to attend PQCrypto 2014 from October 1-3, 2014. The conference was preceded by a two-day summer school from September 29-30; the summer school was attended by 99 graduate students and researchers. Combinatorics and Optimization professors Michele Mosca and Alfred Menezes served as conference program chair and general chair.
The summer school and conference lectures were recorded; the videos are available at the conference web site. The research papers presented at the conference were published as Volume 8772 of Springer's lecture notes in Computer Science.
