Ron Mullin awarded an honorary Doctorate from University of Rostock

Ron Mullin
Professor Ron Mullin, of the Department of Combinatorics and Optimization, recently received an honorary doctorate from Universitat Rostock. Professor Mullin received his PhD from Waterloo in 1964 and became a Professor in Combinatorics and Optimization in 1969. Professor Mullin became a distinguished professor emeritus in 1996.

In his laudatory speech, Hans-Dietrich Gronau praised Professor Mullin's many accomplishments. His speech is excerpted below.

"We are therefore very glad that the University of Rostock awards its highest academic honour (given, among others, to Max Planck and Albert Einstein,) the Doctor rerum naturalium honoris causa to Professor Ronald C. Mullin in acknowledgement of his extra-ordinary scientific achievement for the development of discrete mathematics and in appreciation of his long-term and successful cooperation with the Department of Mathematics at our University."
