Three C&O faculty members have been awarded 2019 NSERC Discovery Accelerator Supplements (DAS):
The DAS program provides substantial and timely resources to researchers who have an established, superior research program that is highly rated in terms of originality and innovation, and who show strong potential to become international leaders within their field. These additional resources should enable researchers to capitalize on a research opportunity or a bold idea (e.g., a recent research breakthrough, a paradigm shift, or a new strategy to tackle a scientific problem or research question, etc.).
Each award is valued at $120,000 over three years ($40,000 annually) and provides recipients with additional resources to compete with the best in the world. These resources are a supplement to the NSERC Discovery Grant, that may be used to expand the recipient’s research group. In 2019, NSERC awarded $15.4 million to 129 applications in the DAS competition.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
